Smugglers Rock Preserve

Smuggler’s Rock Preserve- 113 acres

Three adjacent parcels comprise Smuggler’s Rock Preserve. In 2012 a 12-acre parcel on Round Hill Rd. was donated to SLT; in 2013 an adjacent 94-acre parcel was donated, with access from the end of Salem Ridge Drive and Salem Ridge North; and in 2014 a third, the Passero/Rathbun parcel, was purchased with generous donations from SLT Members and a $25,000 grant from the Bafflin Foundation.

SRP’s 2 miles of marked trails take hikers up to and around Smuggler’s Rock. From there, when the foliage is off the trees, one can see all the way to the center of Town. With the addition of the Rathbun parcel and new Trail section out to Round Hill Rd. one can access the nearby State of CT’s Zemko Pond Wildlife Management Area, the Salem recreational facilities and Salem Town Hall.
